This Belleek basket is a hand-woven into an organic shape representing a pond that features that features koi fish and a frog. It is additionally enhanced with aquatic fauna and flora, including water lilies and menyanthes plants. The Irish basket is crafted of fine china; each element is hand applied.
The Belleek Hanako Basket takes it name from the longest living freshwater fish, a female koi, that lived to the grand age of 226. Koi represent longevity, perseverance, and abundance, while the frog is a symbol of fertility and transformation. According to the ancient Celts the frog is believed to be healing and cleansing as well as an emblem of rebirth.
This Belleek China basket measures 7" wide x 7” long x 2 1/2” deep. The Irish basket is hand painted and handmade in Belleek, Ireland.
