Irish Coffee Glasses: Galway Crystal
Galway Crystal Irish Coffee Glasses

Galway Crystal Irish Coffee Glasses

Irish coffee glasses from Galway Crystal are footed and have the small, looped handle that is commonly found in the traditional style. Galway Crystal Irish coffee glasses are enhanced with etched designs that include the Irish Blessing along with an interlaced Trinity knot.

Irish coffee is a relatively new innovation as the familiar cocktail only came into existence in the 1940's when it was first prepared and named by Joe Sheridan at a restaurant just outside of Shannon Airport.

Irish coffee became popular a decade later when Staton Delaplane, a travel journalist for the San Francisco Chronicle, discovered the beverage at Shannon Airport and commenced to write about it in his columns. Irish coffee was first served in the United States at the Buena Vista Cafe in San Francisco in 1952 and the rest is history.
