Standing Celtic cross features an intricately embossed pewter recreation of the Clonmacnoise Cross.

This standing Celtic cross is a pewter replica of the 9th century monument that is located at the Clonmacnoise Monastery in County Offaly, Ireland; it is also known as the Cross of the Scriptures.

This 4 meter tall sandstone cross is one of the most skillfully executed of the surviving high crosses in Ireland, and of particular interest for its surviving inscription, which asks a prayer for Flann Sinna, King of Ireland, and Abbot Colman, who commissioned the cross. Both men were also responsible for the building of the Cathedral. The Clonmacnoise cross was carved from Clare sandstone c.900. The surface of the cross is divided into panels, showing scenes including the Crucifixion, the Last Judgment, and Christ in the Tomb.

This pewter standing Celtic cross features elaborate detailing and measures 3 3/4" wide x 7 1/4" tall x 2" deep. The Clonmacnoise High Cross is embossed on all sides and is made in Ireland by Mullingar Pewter. The Cross of Scriptures is gift boxed with a brief history along with Celtic cross and Celtic knot history cards, complements of The Irish Gift House.
